There are food stores, health stores, and even cosmetic stores that carry a few lines of clean make up and skincare. They are always mixed with their toxic counterpart and the staff is never informed about the ingredients or the application. There’s hardly a store that dedicates its entire inventory to "clean beauty". To fill in this gap, CAP Beauty, once only an online store, opened its doors this year.
CAP Beauty, located in the West Village,NYC, is the brainchild of Kerrilynn Pamer and Cindy DiPrima Morisse, two friends who appreciate the connection between good food and good health. What you eat, is as important at what you put on your body, to maintain a healthy skin. At CAP you can feel safe testing any of their products because they had been carefully curated to offer only the best and safest ingredients.
Here you will not only find lotions, perfumes, and cosmetics of well known organic brands like Tata Haper, RMS, but indie brands like the luxe botanical brand In Fiore. They also provide wellness treatments like acupuncture sessions, pre-natal massages, facials, lymphatic massages, all designed to guide the body into balance. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you in select the appropriate treatment for you. Besides all those great offerings, they hold monthly events where they introduce you to the brands they carry and the actual faces behind all the products.
It is in one of these events that I had the opportunity to meet make up-maven, artist, and sweetheart Shirley Pinkson, of the cosmetics line Well People. Shirley, along with her two other partners,“are taking pretty to a more positive place by skillfully integrating artistry, technology and responsibility in one super performing package”. You will not find harsh artificial chemicals, preservatives, petrochemicals, or gmos in any of their products. The superstar ingredient in their formulas is organic Aloe Vera, a therapeutic botanical proven to help soothe, nourish, moisturize and heal the skin.
Shirley told me that the inspiration to create the line came from her own clients that were asking for cleaner formulas that didn’t irritate their skin or had scary ingredients. During the event, I was lucky enough to receive some make up tips from Shirley herself and a mini make over.
I really enjoyed my experience at Cap Beauty and meeting Shirley. She is just really sweet and knowledgeable about green beauty. You can click here for more make up tips from Shirley's blog.
Have you tried Well People yet? Would love to hear your comments!
